John Wins Big Brother Celebrity Hijack

In last night’s final, John won this year’s version of Celebrity Big Brother - where talented young people made up the housemates and celebrities took over as Big Brother. John, who is a young Scottish politician - cruelly labelled by some as the “honey monster” - probably had this competition sewn up on the first night when he was forced to undertake a number of cringemaking, humiliating tasks at the behest of first hijacker, Matt Lucas. Telling Jeremy - a young racing driver who confuses cynicism with intelligence - he looked like Harry Potter was my personal favourite.

Personally, I would have bet serious money that Anthony would have won. Great looking, all round nice guy, he seemed a shoe-in to me, but we should never ever underestimate the power or the Scottish bloc vote - see Michelle McManus and X-Factor’s Leon for evidence. To be fair though, John did seem a genuine person and very well adjusted.

This was also Dermot’s last outing as a Big Brother presenter, as he is now giving it up to concentrate on X Factor in the Summer.

What did you think of Big Brother Celebrity Hijack? Did John deserve to win?

Billi, please leave the Big Brother House

The comedically named Billi Bhati was the latest evictee from the Big Brother house last night. He faced the public vote alongside Tracey and Carole, but the chemically-straightened model found himself cast out. He had claimed to be a fan of the show and had various strategies to eliminate those he saw as being weak, but he forgot the most basic tactic of surviving in the house - not being disliked. You can be hated outside the house and not have a problem, but if your housemates don’t like you, all the strategies in the world won’t help you.

Bye bye Billi.

Seany Evicted From BB House

Irish prankster Seany has been evicted from the Big Brother House.

He went up against Jonathan and Carole in the public vote, and the great British public decided to send him packing. Charley was her usual two faced self when she expressed shock at who could have wanted to vote him out despite having nominated him.

I found him annoying, and also potentially dangerous when he recklessly pushed Charley into the pool, but you had to pity him when he was genuinely gutted to have voted out.

Liam wins Big Brother. Kind of.

In a special mid week live episode, Big Brother decided to play a little game with the housemates. Big Brother announced that the £100,000 prize money was in the diary room. This weeks nominated housemates - Jonathan, Carole and Seany - were sent to the diary room and had to decide amonst them who should get the money. They decided to give it to Liam.

When he was told of their decision, he appeared at first sight to be massively underwhelmed. But it was actually the complete opposite and he soon broke down in tears.

Will he keep the money or will there be further twists? What incentive do the other housemates have now? Maybe some will walk?

Liam was the bookies favourite,  so chances are he would have ended up with the money anyway.

What do you think?

BB8: Seany makes his presence felt

Seany entered the Big Brother house on Friday night, and has quickly made his presence known.

First he pulled the blanket from Lesley’s bed whilst she was asleep. She left the Big Brother house the next day.

Then he decides that he and Gerry will share the double bed and informs Chiggy of his decision. He went through the motions of asking them if it was ok, but he clearly already decided.

And in a chat with the housemates, he revealed he briefly turned to Islam after 9/11, and that realised he was gay in his 20s after 5 serious girlfriends.

Sorry, don’t like him. This guy’s going to be the source of friction in the house!

Emily Parr kicked out of Big Brother

Big Brother contestant Emily was seen using the N word in last night’s Big Brother. Unlike their last race row, Channel 4 didn’t waste any time and she was called to the diary room at 03:00 and removed from the house. The N word to me is offensive and inappropriate in any context. There’s some massive contradictions about the word and how it’s acceptable to be used by others but that’s a debate for another time, and I don’t like it at all.

That said, Channel 4 has got this all screwed up. If someone has been racist, they need to be seen to be punished. Yes, Emily was punished by being removed, but she was also an object of pity and probably sympathy, as she was dragged out of bed at 3 in the morning for her ignorance to be fully revealed. The editing also showed the most direct victim - Charley - bitching and stirring up trouble in the house. Talk about mixed messages.

The fact is, Emily probably isn’t racist but stupid, and rather than be thrown out, she could have been educated somehow and the issue be dealt with in the house. When racist language was used in the Celeb Big Brother House, with actual malicious intent, the culprits were allowed to stay. It seems Emily paid the price for Channel 4’s failure to properly deal with that issue.

The makers have a warped sense of priorities in my opinion.
